SpaceX Dragon is one of the vehicles that will be supplying ISS with consumables as a part of the COTS program. NASA has told SpaceX that every Dragon that visits ISS must be a completely new spacecraft even though it is reusable.
Therefore each time SpaceX brings the Dragon back, it is now an almost new spacecraft paid for by the government, ready for private business. It will become DragonLab and we'll need to fill it's pressurized and unpressurized compartments with private payloads.
Anybody know of any organizations that want to fly payload, whether they want it brought back or not?
DragonLab has 3300Kg of pressurized returnable payload space available, plus more unpressurized non returnable payload space in the skirt section. (Maybe placement for microsats needing launching)
